Photowalk in Prague - February 2024

Here’s a selection of photos we have taken so far in February.

We had a visitor from Japan so we took our precious guest to the main sightseeing points such as the castle and old town. Most of the gardens are closed at this time of the year, but Vojan Gardens is opened and you can see the peacocks and pigeons fighting over some food given by other visitors.

All the birds were grouped at the end of the garden, after a wide staircase that leads to the observation terrace with benches and rose pergolas. The garden is considered the oldest partially preserved garden in Prague and it’s really nice to visit especially during warmer months.

In the evening we had some time before dinner so we also showed our guest the Municipal House - Art Nouveau building, built from 1905 to 1911. We went downstairs and encountered this gentleman on the photo below. He was wearing a black coat, black hat and holding a tiny old-fashioned briefcase.

As soon as I saw him I reached into my pocket to quickly pull out my Ricoh GR3x and snapped this photo while he was leaving. I love when unexpected moments like this happen. Little did we know, there is the second oldest bar in Europe called Tretter’s in the basement…

It’s also worth looking inside buildings through windows or doors to notice a nice reflection or interesting setting.

Even though I press the button on my camera, it’s often Juli who points out the subject or notices something interesting to shoot I’d have missed otherwise.
