Autumn in Moravia: wine, cats and architecture

Come drink, the wine will brighten your wits! 🍷🍂

In a country that ranks as top three and for some years as leader in the European drinking pro capita, boasting hundreds of industrial and independent breweries, there’s no doubt about it: beer and spirits are the way to go! We were thrilled to discover endless fields of purple and white nestled in the southern part.

On a gorgeous summer weekend, we climbed to one of the many viewpoints to take in the breathtaking views of the autumn skies, colourful patches, and rolling backcountry roads. We even spotted some churches in the distance! We had the most amazing time walking across and around the vineyards! We were so surprised by the adorable kittens in the farmhouses and the many cosy accommodation places.

The silence was incredible, the colours were absolutely breathtaking! We could picture how just over a month ago, people would have been picking the grapes and selling wine by the glass or bottle in the little kiosks and wine cellars that had sprung up around the fields. We thought of how people used to enjoy feasting on wines and delicious almonds, local cheeses, and the absolute best apricots in the world - the sweet Pavlovice’s!

We were saddened at the thought that the recent years’ climate change jeopardised the spirit and economy of the whole region - but we were also excited to see how the region would bounce back! Nevertheless, we carried on exploring, fuelled by the crispiness and brightness of the regional wines, the sights of ripe quinces, the soft kolacek and, above all - the fascination of wild nature and remarkable architectural sites. Our trip in Moravia was nothing short of idyllic, its colours of gold, brick and green, dreamlike.

We want to share it with you, so you can discover this beautiful part of the country for yourself! Cheers!
